Ranking
6. Riftborne
This is what happens when you take recommendations from TikTok. Sometimes they’re bops and sometimes they’re flops. This one was a flop for me. I felt like nothing was really happening for the majority of the book. As an FMC, Fia annoyed me because she seemed like she couldn’t have fun.
The romance was also so unbelievable to me. It didn’t make any sense, and that’s one of my biggest pet peeves in books lately. The FMC and MMC make such strong declarations of love, but they barely know each other, have no chemistry, and have pretty much just met.
4 & 5. Swift and Saddled and Lost and Lassoed
I’m ranking these books on the same scale because I rated them both the same and I can’t say I liked one more than the other. These are both part of the Rebel Blue Ranch series, which is a cowboy romance made up of interconnected standalones.
I normally don’t read past the first book in interconnected standalones, so the fact that I read books 2 and 3 says a lot. They’re easy reads, cute romances, and I love the ranch setting and family dynamic. However, I haven’t read the 4th book yet and I’m not sure if I will.
Part of me feels like I should read it just to complete the series, but the other part of me just doesn’t feel like it lol.
3. Quicksilver (review coming soon)
There’s a lot of hype surrounding this book and I can see why. It has a lot of things that we love in a romantasy: plot, strong FMC, magic, powers, broody MMC, banter, and spice.
The story is easy to read and follow. It definitely kept me engaged, but it wasn’t something I was obsessed with. I also just could not get over the MMC’s name. Kingfisher is just not an attractive name to me lol. I’m sorry.
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting this to be so high on the list. I was very suspect of it in the beginning. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Dianna as a FMC. I felt like she was too snarky and too sarcastic about everything.
But let me tell you something, when the plot starts to hit, it hits HARD. Samkiel has my entire heart. But even without Samkiel, the story is really good. There is so much lore and so many different things going on that had me fully invested in the story.
And the ending!!!! Well done, Ms. Nicole, well done.
Hands down one of the most epic books I’ve ever read. Not only is this my favorite book from October and November, it is definitely top 5 of the whole year.
The story from beginning to end is amazing. The battles, the characters, the emotions, the arcs, everything. There were literal jaw dropping moments for me in this book. I was shook.
M. L. Wang’s books will be seeing me in 2026.

These last two months were slower reading months for me, but that is how it goes sometimes, right? There were birthdays, vacations, and holidays. Oh my!
December is shaping up to be the same. I am not able to read as much, but that is just how life goes sometimes.
