My Review Style
So, I won’t lie – this is my first time officially reviewing books in a written format. I’ve talked about them with friends, gone on long-winded rants, made the occasional TikTok, and even took notes in my Notes app that have never seen the light of day. But other than that, I’ve never posted official book reviews, so I’m excited for this new, fun adventure! At the moment, I can’t say I have a defined review style, but I do have my deer-star rating guide (get it? Instead of stars, I’m using deer).

What I can say about my rating system is that the plot and how I felt while reading will always be the two most important factors. Take the Zodiac Academy series, for example. I loved that series. It had me in the biggest chokehold for months. I’ll recommend it to everyone I know. However, there were spelling mistakes, lots of cringe, and some filler that dragged at times. But does that prevent me from giving the series a 5 deer-star rating? Nope, absolutely not. Why? Because I had the best time of my life reading those books and getting lost in that world. And the characters – don’t even get me started.
So, as you can imagine, every book is different, and not every book will receive that same treatment. If I’m not enjoying a book, if the plot doesn’t make sense, or if there are spelling mistakes and cringe moments, then yeah, it’s getting 1-2 deer-stars.
Stick around to see what I’m reading this year, and remember, there’s a method to my madness!
